Animating Dreams: Our Summer Interns Have Arrived

Meet our summer design and animation interns! We are thrilled to have you on board and can’t wait to see your exceptional talents in action. Welcome to the team!

Claudia Celio

What inspired you to pursue a career in animation?

The times when I'm having the most fun are always when I'm animating. I grew up wanting to be a biologist and thought that the career I chose had to be "serious," and anything in the arts was out of the question. Then in high school, I joined a community of editors and animators online who were pursuing their passions just as seriously as anyone else, and they inspired me to consider a career where I could be serious about the work that I do and also have fun while doing it.

If you could design/animate a character from any universe, who would it be and why?

That's a tough question! If I had to pick, I’d go with an anime called “Dorohedoro”. It has such a unique art style and characters, and I think it would be so fun to take a stab at designing and animating a character that lives in that insane world.

What’s your go-to snack while working on projects?

I try not to eat snacks....but can't resist a good pack of Cheez-it Duoz.

What do you look forward to most during your internship at Compadre?

Experiencing how an incredible agency like Compadre works on projects and how teams operate in this industry is so valuable, and I know the advice and techniques I'll learn here will stick with me for the rest of my career.

Sunny Xinyu

What inspired you to pursue a career in animation?

I don’t have a traditional background in art like many artists do. I started to fall in love with illustration when l was in my sophomore year at college and then I spent the next couple years just doing the illustration on my own. It wasn’t until I got surrounded by a bunch of talented animators during my graduate study, I was no longer satisfied with the still illustration, I wanted to see them MOVE! It was an accident and blessing that I chose to be an animator, I’m loving every second of it so far! I want to continue to grow as an animator!

If you could design/animate a character from any universe, who would it be and why?

I will pick the Headspace mascot orange smiley. I really like brands that focus on today’s people's mental well-being and meditation. I like the minimalist design they’re going for and because of its simplicity in its design, the possibilities for its animation are full of possibilities. Also, I like the idea of using abstract shapes to explore the emotion, subconsciousness, and self-healing messages that Headspace represents.

What’s your go-to snack while working on projects?

My go-to snack is Greek yogurt with some berries! I love protein-rich food to power me through the day!

What do you look forward to most during your internship at Compadre?

I’m looking forward to learning from mentors and colleagues here at Compadre! I particularly like the typography animation and type design work on Compadre’s site! I hope to contribute part of my typographic passion to projects like that!
